Slay the Spire 2 v0.105.0 Patch Notes - Beta Branch Update (Bestiary, Aeonglass)

Slay the Spire 2’s May 8 beta patch, denoted v0.105.0, marks the first time the game has been updated since the devs shifted to a biweekly pattern, and it introduces a brand-new boss to replace the Doormaker alongside the long-awaited Bestiary feature alongside a series of balance changes and card adjustments.

Slay the Spire 2 v0.105.0 Beta Branch Patch Notes – Key Insights

The Bestiary

This is a menu where you can check all the enemies and monsters you encounter in the game. It is still marked as “under construction” in the UI, so expect it to feature further insights about the various foes as it is developed further. The original game didn’t include a Bestiary in its compendium, but it was a popular Steam Workshop mod, so it makes sense for Mega Crit to develop an integrated edition for the sequel.

New Boss: Aeonglass

Doormaker has been replaced with an entirely different endgame boss called Aeonglass. The devs previously stated they want to avoid knee-jerk decisions regarding The Doormaker, and this is how they explain the change this time: “While Doormaker had interesting micro decisions in the fight, he was over the complexity threshold of what we want and had lingering issues. We decided that starting over fresh will let us hit what we actually want for an Act 3 boss.”

Fans of The Lantern Key also have something unique to look forward to, though the devs remained coy about what exactly that is, writing, “Something special now happens if you have multiple Lantern Key cards (doesn't apply to multiplayer)

Flare's fimpressions of the 0.105.0 Patch

"Aeonglass replacing Doormaker is a great change, that boss simply made the game less fun after its rework. Defect getting bonus benefits from Lightning Orbs makes it a character that should be more interesting to a lot of players that may have not liked it before. Sword Sage getting reworked, along side the past Parry changes makes Sovereign Blade Regent decks no longer look like a complete joke in comparison to other styles. Tezcatara's Pumpkin Candle genuinely felt like the worst Ancient Reward in the game, especially compared to other Tezcatara rewards, so seeing a rework to it will hopefully help."
