This week’s beta patch introduces significant changes to leaderboard mechanics, adds new character content, and focuses on smoothing out the difficulty spikes in Act 1 and the endgame.


Major System Update: Daily Leaderboards


The scoring system for Daily Runs has been overhauled to provide more clarity and reduce the impact of certain numbers.

  • Friends Only: Leaderboards will now primarily display your friends' scores to create a more personal competitive environment.
  • New Scoring Schema: Rankings are now determined by Win Status, Badge Count, and Completion Time, in that order.
  • Branch Separation: Because of these data changes, Main branch and Beta branch leaderboards are now separate.


New Content & Relics

New Neow (Ancient) Relics

Three new powerful relics have been added to the starting pool to increase run variety:

  • Neow's Bones: Upon pickup, gain two random Neow relics and one random Curse.
  • Phile Holster: Upon pickup, gain +1 Potion Slot and two random potions.
  • Winged Boots: Allows you to ignore paths when choosing the next room (3 charges).


Ironclad Updates

  • New Card: Not Yet (Rare Skill): Costs 2 Energy. Heal 10(13) HP. Exhaust.
  • Colossus: Rarity decreased from Rare to Uncommon, making the Ironclad's defensive scaling significantly more accessible.
  • Deprecated: The "Grapple" card has been removed from the pool.


Balance Changes

The Silent

  • Acrobatics: Rarity increased from Common to Uncommon. This change addresses the card's dominance in win rates and draw consistency.
  • Follow-Through (Rework): If you have 5 or more other cards in your Hand, hits an additional time. It hits a second time (which triggers relics like Akabeko or Shuriken twice). It also means you need 6 cards total (the 5 others + the one you are playing).
  • Buffs: Base damage increases for Memento Mori and Speedster.

Enemies & Bosses

Developers have focused on reducing "spikiness" in Act 1 and making the final encounters more manageable:

  • Dorm Maker (Final Boss): Significantly nerfed. It no longer applies certain debuffs and gains less strength over time.
  • Berdonis (Elite): HP reduced (notably by 9 HP on high Ascension), allowing for faster kills.
  • Living Fog: No longer increases the number of bombs spawned over time.


Art & UI Improvements

  • New Portraits: Added for Adaptive Strike, Shadow Shield, Smokestack, Bad Luck, and Outbreak.
  • UI Polish: Run History now includes Badges; your name is highlighted in blue on leaderboards; and Max Block has been increased beyond 999,999,999.
  • Clarity: Event descriptions (like the Spiraling Whirlpool have been updated to specify they only affect basic Strike/Defend cards.
