Smokestack provides enough payoff to be worth picking in a deck with Status generation, but not enough to take it in a deck which doesn't have any of that yet in the hopes it will become good later.
Very solid area damage for a status-generating build. Especially nice with Overlock, Turbo, or Boost Away.
