Slay the Spire 2 is a super fun and very challenging deckbuilding roguelike, and there are many tips I wish I knew before getting started with the game. Here are some key ideas you should keep in mind during your climb:

Pathing is a Key Factor in StS2

Planning out your movements on the map is critical. As soon as an Act starts, scroll to the top of the map and look at the boss icon. This will help you figure out what your deck needs to counter their specific mechanics – then, you can decide how many fights to take along the way.

Decide if a rigid path or one with flexible options makes the most sense. Having options is highly recommended, as it provides the choice to pivot towards an Elite when feeling confident, or bail to a safer mystery room if health is getting low.

Fighting Elites is almost always worth the risk, as the relics they drop are mandatory for surviving the late game. When planning your route, also figure out how many Elites you can take down along the way.

Use Your Resources Effectively

It's easy to get tunnel vision while staring at the cards in hand. Don't forget about your potions! They are incredibly powerful tools that can easily save a run or turn a bad draw into a winning turn. It would be a shame to waste them – at the very least, treat them as heals by closing out fights a turn or two quicker. This way, you can also avoid overflow if potions are offered alongside your card reward.

Your health is also a resource in Slay the Spire 2, just like in many other card games. Don't panic over taking a few points of damage. Spending some HP to kill an enemy faster or choosing to Upgrade a card at a Rest Site instead of Healing is how you build a stronger, winning deck over time.
