Quests are a new type of card in Slay the Spire 2 that clog your deck like Curses or Status cards as you can’t play them directly. However, they present a challenge, and completing the quest condition grants you a powerful reward. Think of them as a long-term investment. You’re voluntarily making your deck a little worse right now in exchange for something valuable down the line.
Where Do You Find Quest Cards?
These new cards can be found via random encounters inside an Event room. Those are the rooms marked with a question mark (?) on your map. They aren’t offered as standard rewards after combat, so keep an eye out for those rooms if you’re on the hunt for one.
Example Quest Cards
To understand how they work let’s take a look at the Byrdonis Egg. It’s a solid and straightforward example of how the system works.

When you encounter the Byrdonis Nest event, you’re given two choices. Eat the egg to gain 7 Max HP or take the egg and add it to your deck. If you choose to take the egg it’ll remain as a dead card until you bring it to a Rest Site at which point it’ll hatch into a companion and give you the Byrd Swoop card that deals 14 damage for 0 Energy.
It is worth noting that hatching the egg does cost your entire action at the Rest Site. If you happen to be within a few moves of a Rest Site this can be a really easy quest to fulfill.
There’s also a card called Spoils Map which marks a site of 600 extra Gold in the next Act meaning you have to carry it much longer and tailor your path selection towards it in order to complete the quest.
If you change your mind and don’t complete the quest, the card will remain Unplayable and in your deck until you do.
