Taunt is SO MUCH BETTER than it might look at first glance. One factor is that Ironclad really likes having a 7/8 Block card early on in the game. He just needs a bit more Block. He also happens to need a bit more Vulnerable to keep enemies Vulnerable consistently! So it's a perfect add to the Starter Deck. Later on, it scales very well with Vulnerable Synergies, which love a card which keeps them alive while everything is coming together.
