An Intro to Quest Cards

Quests are a new type of card in Slay the Spire 2 that clog your deck like Curses or Status cards, as you can’t play them directly. However, they present a challenge, and completing the quest condition grants you a powerful reward. Think of them as a long-term investment. You’re voluntarily making your deck a little worse right now in exchange for something valuable down the line.

Where Do You Find Quest Cards in StS2?

These new cards can be found via random encounters inside an Event room. Those are the rooms marked with a question mark (?) on your map. Quest Cards aren’t offered as standard rewards after combat, so keep an eye out for those rooms if you’re on the hunt for one.

Slay the Spire 2 Byrdonis Egg

Slay the Spire 2 Quest Cards: Two Examples

Byrdonis Egg

When you encounter the Byrdonis Nest event, you’re given two choices.

  • Eat the egg to gain 7 Max HP
  • Take the egg and add it to your deck.

If you choose to take the egg, it’ll remain a dead card until you bring it to a Rest Site, at which point it’ll hatch into a companion and give you Byrd Swoop, a card that deals 14 damage for 0 Energy.

Hatching the egg costs will cost your entire action at the Rest Site. If you happen to be within a few moves of a Rest Site, this can be a really easy quest to fulfill.

Spoils Map

There’s also a card called Spoils Map, which marks a site of 600 extra Gold in the next Act, meaning you have to carry it much longer and tailor your path selection towards it in order to complete the quest. You can read more about it in our best map choices guide. If you change your mind and don’t complete the quest, the card will remain Unplayable and in your deck until you do.

This is just a sampling. If you want to get a full idea of what to expect going into a run, here is a list of all of the quest cards in the game, which we will continue to update as Slay the Spire 2 gets closer to its full release and further cards are added to the title.
