

Dark Embrace is a bit slow for this game. Ironclad has access to lots of cards which immediately "win" the fight, either by killing the enemies or by setting up Unmovable amounts of Block, for example, and so instead of having to spend 2 Energy on Dark Embrace you'd prefer to just draw one of those as quickly as possible.

Powers that draw more cards are extremely strong because they can get you additional cards across many turns for only a single initial card play. This card is one of the strongest card draw powers because you can activate the effect many times per turn. This combos with a wide variety of cards, including some Curse and Status cards.
