Poisoned Stab is a solid and noncommittal damage card. You can put it in your deck and it'll help you out in some early fights, but it doesn't mean you have to go only for Poison damage in the run or anything like that. You can also skip it. It's just an "okay" card in a lot of different ways, and that makes it useful sometimes but not tragic to miss out on.
