Ironclad has a lot of very strong 1-Cost or even 0-Cost cards, and a lot of powerful energy gain, so solving early-game damage requirements with a card which replaces itself or even is Draw-positive when upgraded easily transitions into powerful lategame. There are some meme interactions with Hellraiser and Perfected Strike here, too, but the main strength of Pommel Strike is simply that it helps your deck deal more damage early without weighing it down later.
