The raw math on Noxious Fumes looks a lot worse than the card ends up being. 5 damage over 3 turns? Not great. But when you consider that it makes your deck deal ramping unbounded amounts of damage if you're able to block for long enough it starts to seem a lot more exciting. That's a good enough strategy for winning most runs at max difficulty in this game.
